All of us have fears. Fear of man, fear of the unknown, fear that we don't have what it takes, fear of the future, fear of death, fear of loneliness ... the list is endless.
And, our behavior is driven by those fears in ways we are not even aware. We develop strategies to compensate for our fears.
For instance, what is the primary reason we do not share our faith freely and daily with others? It's fear. We are afraid of what people will think and afraid that we are not equipped enough for the conversation. The MOST IMPORTANT calling we have is aborted by our fear.
Stop and think about it for a moment: if you were honest, what is it that you fear? Recognize its source. There is one author and it is not God. Paul, when dealing with Timothy’s fear reminded him that “God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:17).
OVERCOMING FEAR
So how do we overcome our fears? David, when he was surrounded by enemies, has an answer.
""I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears ... this poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them."" (Psalm 34:4-7)
He sought the Lord. He cried out. He PRAYED. ""Lord, deliver me,"" may have been his simple cry. And guess what? God heard, God answered, God delivered.
And the deliverance was complete. ""He delivered me from ALL my fears,"" was David's testimony.
It worked for David; it will work for you! Why not stop right now and cry out for deliverance from your fears?
