AND WE WILL SEE HIS FACE

There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.  (Re 22:3–4)

It’s just two verses in the final chapter of the entire Bible. But here we come full circle. Here Eden is restored, but more; the glorious purpose of it all finds full expression with one phrase: “And we will see His face.”

This was impossible for all generations of human existence on this earth. But one day, in the new heavens and earth, in the glory of a world as it should be—even more glorious than the original Eden—looking into the face of Almighty God will be as normal and accessible as any daily view.

He will tabernacle among His children. We will feel the full weight and glory of His unwavering, constant presence. No light will be needed for we will bask in His warm presence. There will be no need for redemption’s work, for continued confession and repentance and cleansing, for all is accomplished. The working out of our salvation will have found glorious fulfillment there.

Each of us will be wonderfully employed in caring for His new creation. We will find our perfect joy in doing, eternally, exactly what we were designed to do. God will be eternally glorified and His family eternally and completely satisfied.

And we will be home.
