LIVING THE CONTRARY LIFE

LIVING THE CONTRARY LIFE

“But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength, yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, for You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of my distress.” (Psalm 59:16)

The world moves along, generally, as a great mooing herd. They follow the same broad path, thinking it will lead to life. They heed the same directions, pursue the same gods, and live for the identical purpose.

BUT AS FOR ME

But there are some who have found the one, true God. They worship a different Master and are committed to a singular purpose and mission. They have found (or rather, been found by) the Lord Himself, and they have experienced His eternal salvation and are held by His overwhelming strength.

Therefore, their vocabulary is dominated by a different pronoun. It is “You” instead of “me.” David said, “I will sing of YOUR strength … YOUR lovingkindness … for YOU have been my stronghold”

Those who have gladly changed the pronoun are those who know rest and peace, for God is the unchanging One, perfect in everything and eternally sufficient. He can be trusted and is unfailing in His faithfulness.

Whatever people may say and however they may scoff at our faith, we are glad to say, “But as for me.”
