SEEKING

SEEKING

Seek the Lord and His strength; See His face continually. (Psalm 105:4)

We are always seeking. The objects of our desires are what we think will give us value. We are driven by what our minds believe will secure us meaning, purpose, and life.

AN INCORRECT VALUE
… can be deadly. Men have turned from the best things to chase the worst on a daily basis. We must make sure that what we seek is worthy of our pursuit.

The Psalmist puts our feet on level ground with one sentence. He tells us what to pursue, putting us on the most rewarding path. If we seek the Lord, we will find all that we need.

SEEK HIS STRENGTH
One of the great questions of life is, “Do I have what it takes?” We simply do not unless we join Christ and His always sufficient strength. God has an inexhaustible supply of the power we need. Physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental capacity are all there with Him, waiting to be enjoyed.

SEEK HIS FACE
More than His gifts, we simply need Him. He has gone to extraordinary lengths to make Himself available to us. We can know Him! Paul counted everything but loss for this surpassing value.

CONTINUALLY
But ours should not be the momentary search of an hour or a season. A quick turn when we’re in need. It must be a continual pursuit, for we have a continual need, and God deserves our continual attention. Pray without ceasing. Seek Him and keep seeking. And as you experience Him, you will find, as Lewis wrote, “everything else thrown in.”

SETTLING THE ISSUE OF WHY YOU LIVE
SETTLING THE ISSUE OF WHY YOU LIVE

I have known many people who have had great joy and power in the midst of great suffering. It is humbling that the slightest inconveniences deter many of us from following God. We have not gotten to the bottom—settled the issue. Most often, we live for our comfort, reputation, or gain. When any of those goals are touched, we are troubled and discontent.
