SLAUGHTERED LAMB, CONQUERING LION

SLAUGHTERED LAMB, CONQUERING LION

It will be the chief occupation of eternity. Soon this world will be over, and our Sovereign God will move us into the final state of things. Satan will be completely banished to hell and eternal judgment with all his hosts. They will be forever separated from God and His presence, forever toothless and impotent to affect God’s kingdom. Correspondingly, God’s people will form the New Kingdom and will serve as God-appointed priests and leaders there.

THE SONG OF HEAVEN

We stand on the precipice of this new age. Poised, ready, and waiting for the opening of the seals on the final chapters God has ordained. But we have been given a forestate and description of what is to come in John’s revelation so that we will purify and prepare ourselves.

REVELATION 5

… describes the fear of the writer (John) because the time came for the opening the final chapters, but the books were sealed with no one worthy to lay their hand on them, and open them, and move us into the final chapter. No one, until Christ! When this One comes forward and literally “took the scroll out of the right hand of the One seated on the throne,” the congregation of heaven began to sing of His worth, a song we will sing eternally. A hymn we will forever enjoy.

CONQUERING KING

Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Look, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered so that he is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:5)

The angel describes to John the one who will open the last chapters. He is a Lion that has come from the lineage of the greatest King in history. He is from the root of David (just as was promised) who will overthrow the kingdom of darkness completely and take His rightful place at the right hand of the Father. He has done everything in the proper way and order and has conquered the forces that were against God and against us. Not only did He fight the battle, He won the contest!

SLAUGHTERED LAMB

Then I saw one like a slaughtered lamb standing in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. (Revelation 5:6)

But John’s vision carries another image. It is uttered in the next breath. He is the One who was a “slaughtered lamb.” This vicarious death was necessary to purchase our salvation, forgive us of our sins, fill us with Himself, and make us fit to rule and reign with Him.

He is the conquering King because He was first the slaughtered Lamb. Both reveal His nature and His work. Both are what make Him worthy to enter into the great occupation … and we can now bow low and sing the song of heaven.

You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slaughtered, and you purchased people for God by your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation. You made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth.  (Revelation 5:9–10)

Glorious song that speaks of the slaughtered Lamb who became the conquering King. We will praise Him forever!
