THE GREATEST NEW SONG OF ALL TIME

THE GREATEST NEW SONG OF ALL TIME

Each decade, a new song bursts on the scene that takes the world by storm, selling millions of copies. In the 60s, it was The Beatles’ “She Loves You” that sold over 1.5 million copies.

Listen to the words that we listened to incessantly.

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Yeah.

Hmmm. It must have been their hair that made that awe-inspiring.

SONGS COME AND GO
Songs get old, and each generation writes its own lyrics of what they idolize. But there is coming a day when all of this frivolous mania will change.

The Apostle John had the glorious privilege to hear the greatest song (and see it sung by the most glorious choir). He recorded it for us to experience.

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10)

This song erupted in the halls of heaven as the Lamb of God took the final prophetic book from the right hand of God. It is no “yeah, yeah, yeah” song. Each phrase is packed with meaning of what Christ has done and what is coming.

“Worthy are You”
No one else takes His place. Christ alone is the One who has done that which no one else could do and is worthy of our worship for eternity. A song is only as good as its subject. This song exceeds them all.

“For You were slain.”
The One we worship is the King at the right hand of God who left heaven’s glory to become a baby, live, and die. The One who was willing to take the punishment for all of our sins, forever satisfying the justice of God.

“And purchased for God with your blood.”
It was the greatest transaction in human history. Its intent was stunning: to purchase people from Satan’s domain who would be brought back to God. The song overwhelms us as we think of the aggressive pursuit of God for us.

“Men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”
This was no discriminatory purchase. It was a vast, timeless transaction that would reach every sector of society and culture for all time. No one was to be excluded. Not even you.

“You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God.”
His work formed the redeemed into a mighty, unshakable kingdom that would do the highest work and activity for all eternity.

“And they will reign upon the earth.”
God designed the earth and heavens to house His creation. The fall would mar this image, but from the beginning, there was a plan to remake it through the work of Christ. And now, all the redeemed are involved through the grace of God and our faith in Him and will one day reign upon the new heavens and new earth!

True believers will no longer be on the outskirts of society. God’s kingdom will be in place and there will be no other.

Pause and read these verses out loud. And then, in prayer, sing them again and again. It is the greatest song in human history that we will never tire of singing for all eternity!

BROUGHT INTO HIS OWN PRESENCE
BROUGHT INTO HIS OWN PRESENCE

Our greatest problem is not the economy, the culture, or the world we live in. Our most debilitating issue from which all other problems derive is our separation from God. We have lost the one thing that makes us work, that makes us whole and right.

Joseph had no idea how vital a role his simple, prompt response played, and neither will you. But your instant obedience today, and every day, is more important than you realize.

SEEING CHRIST THIS CHRISTMAS
SEEING CHRIST THIS CHRISTMAS

December 13, 2024

The birth of Christ was like no other man. It was not the natural entrance of one who would become an important historical figure. This was different altogether. As we come to remember and celebrate the entrance of Christ (which is a vitally important thing to do), it is easy to bend to the temptation to treat it humanistically. Satan would like nothing more than to denigrate it to Claus and commercialism. To divert our attention from the glory of Christ.
