THE SAVIOR’S PASSIN’ BY

As we enter the presence of Christ, which we should continually as we pray to Him without ceasing … we should come humbly before our Savior. And we should stand in awe.

Why?

Read Psalm 22. It is the account of Jesus—through the prophecy of David’s Psalm—telling of the cross. Notice what our Elder Brother went through to purchase our salvation.

·      He was reproached and despised and mocked (Vs. 6-8)

·      Surrounded by His enemies (vs. 11-13)

·      All His bones were out of joint, and his heart was melted like wax and strength dried up (Vs. 14-15)

·      They pierced his hands and feet and divided his garments (Vs. 16-18)

·      And He carried our grief and sorrow as He was forsaken by the Father, for all our sin fell upon Him as Jesus paid all that he vowed for us to be able to eat and be satisfied, to be able now (because of Christ) to seek and find the Lord (Vs. 22-24).

When you enter freely into the throne room because Christ has “given us an introduction by faith into this grace in which we now stand” (Romans 5:2) … never forget the price paid for your freedom and salvation.

Stand in awe of Him … and stand humbly.

PASSIN’ BY

There is a great line in the film “To Kill a Mockingbird” where the noble country lawyer, Atticus Finch, valiantly defends an innocent black man. It is the courtroom scene, and he has poured out his soul for this man.

The balcony is filled with the black community, as it would have been in that day, but among them are Atticus’ two young children sitting with the black pastor.

As everyone but the balcony empties out, and Atticus gets ready to leave, the grateful people in the balcony remain and then quietly stand. As Atticus leaves, the black pastor says to Atticus’ children, “Stand up, children, your Father’s passin’ by.”

When you enter the throne room, stand in awe and wonder … your Savior is on His throne!

SETTLING THE ISSUE OF WHY YOU LIVE
SETTLING THE ISSUE OF WHY YOU LIVE

February 18, 2025

I have known many people who have had great joy and power in the midst of great suffering. It is humbling that the slightest inconveniences deter many of us from following God. We have not gotten to the bottom—settled the issue. Most often, we live for our comfort, reputation, or gain. When any of those goals are touched, we are troubled and discontent.
