THINKING OF MY FUTURE
Share
As I approach my 75th birthday in a few weeks, there are certain unknowns ahead. But there is one thing that is utterly known and fully assured in my future:
Heaven is coming!
This morning, I find myself thinking of heaven. Just think of living in a place where …
· Every relationship is perfect in love.
· There is no hint of anxiety, worry, or fear. None. We don’t worry about a single thing for the rest of eternity.
· Where all pride is gone (the greatest nemesis of my life). I am no longer tempted to think the world centers around me, nor interested in what people think of me; no longer wrapped up in myself, but wonderfully and wholly unselfish.
· Humility is the air we breathe, and every conversation is between people who are perfected in humility, and brokenness, and full surrender to the Father.
· Every motivation by everyone is pure, and righteous, and holy.
· The love of God fills every space; it is the air we breathe. Everyone loves each other perfectly, I will love perfectly, we will all love God with absolute perfection, and we will understand the height, and depth, and width of the love He has eternally had for us.
· Every conversation is full of wisdom. We will be growing rapidly in wisdom and understanding, and each conversation will add to that depth. Every long talk will grow us.
· Every moment is filled with purposeful activity. No wasted moments, no lazy, meaningless days wondering if your life is accomplishing what it ought.
· When we will all be doing precisely what we were designed to do, that which makes our hearts soar, and we know that there is no end to this fulfillment.
· We will watch those we love expanding and growing into the image of God in stunning ways.
· Where the colors and the glories of creation thrill our hearts at every moment.
· Where music is magical.
· Where I am able to conduct a majestic orchestra (a lifelong dream).
· Where we have such a depth of friendships that it warms our hearts and takes our breath away.
· And most of all … where we look into the face of the Father. We see Him as He is. And we can bow before the great Shepherd and Guardian of our souls, the One who lived and died and rose again to bring us there.
· That’s my future … as sure as the sun rises this morning!
