The one who lives for the approval of men discovers at the end of their life that they have had little affect for the kingdom and have lived much like the world. Their decision to not rock the boat has kept them from their most important purpose and most satisfying life. It is, for most, the most life-directing decision possible.

Do you know how to pray? Do you see its absolute value? Your desperate need? That you are to pray without ceasing? That you will never be like Christ if you leave this component out of your walk with Him? That the power of God will never be visible in your life without prayer? And, that you will never be able to train others like Christ if you neglect this foundational habit?

Jesus was always going "up on the mountain" or "away into the wilderness" to pray. Don’t try to convince God of your busy-ness as an excuse for prayerlessness. Time was no obstacle to Jesus’ prayer life. It was always the priority.

“Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.” (C.S. Lewis)
God has placed in us, I believe, a deep desire for satisfaction and joy. We look everywhere in the world for that which will fill our souls—sex, food, money, relationships, prestige and reputation, comfort. Most of our financial troubles come, for instance, because we are spending more than we should to try to gain this elusive joy.

Jesus was (and is) always trying to teach us to trust Him more. Everything in His kingdom operates on faith. Therefore, expanded faith means that God is released in the sphere of our lives and ministry more. He is more greatly glorified as we are more greatly dependent.

Every day we encounter different people and are faced with different circumstances. Luke records, in very deliberate manner, a running overview of Christ's daily encounters in order to help us see this clearly and navigate each day spiritually.
