THE UNSEEN SOURCE OF ALL KNOWLEDGE

THE UNSEEN SOURCE OF ALL KNOWLEDGE

by Bill Elliff January 28, 2020

The world exalts degrees and the opinions of those of high intellect. But we forget that these men and women are created by a Greater Mind. If we want to know true wisdom and insight into the future, we must defer to the Source of all wisdom and knowledge, and humbly give Him glory when He allows us to see what He sees.

HOW GOD USES OUR WORST SEASONS

HOW GOD USES OUR WORST SEASONS

by Bill Elliff January 27, 2020

God blesses and uses His people who will embrace His sovereignty over their lives. Such trusting believers do not need to have an answer for why everything happens, but trust God enough to believe that God has a Divine agenda that is good.

THE PROMISE OF GOD'S PRESENCE

THE PROMISE OF GOD'S PRESENCE

by Bill Elliff January 22, 2020

The omnipresence of God is a reality (that God is everywhere all the time). “Where can I go from Thy Spirit?” David said (Psalm 139). And, since the coming of Christ and Pentecost, which was the sending of His indwelling Spirit to all who believe, the true follower of Christ is assured that Christ will never leave them nor forsake them personally. Once the Spirit comes to reside in the believing heart, He is there permanently.

But, it is possible to have our head turned by the world, the flesh, and the devil. We can quench and grieve the Spirit who lives within us. We can ignore Him or resist His leadership. If we do so, we will lose the conscious awareness of His presence. We will begin to operate on our own, not walking by the Spirit, and the results are always disastrous. We get what our humanity brings. Like an unseen guest standing in the shadows, He is still present, but not prominent.

THE EVIDENT BLESSING OF GOD

THE EVIDENT BLESSING OF GOD

by Bill Elliff January 17, 2020

This beautiful account reminds us of two very important truths. First, God will meet us where we are. When we are doubting and struggling in faith, God is gracious to come and remind us (again) of His promises. And also, God is faithful. Promises He made to your ancestors that involve you will be fulfilled! And God has rich, personal promises He longs to make and accomplish in your life if you will look to Him.

THE INTEGRITY OF GOD

THE INTEGRITY OF GOD

by Bill Elliff January 14, 2020

Our faith is not mere head knowledge, but is “walking and talking like what God says is really true” as one of my mentors, Manley Beasley used to say. Real faith is always accompanied by an action verb: Noah prepared an ark; Abraham obeyed God and went out as the Lord instructed; Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Daniel continued to pray against the world’s commands.

If we will take Him at His word, we will find Him always faithful to His Word. Our faith will grow and the world will see continued demonstrations of the reality of God.

GOD HEARS

GOD HEARS

by Bill Elliff January 10, 2020

God’s hearing is impeccable. Perfect in fact. He will hear you if you will cry to Him. And, He will answer. God heard Hagar’s affliction and told her to return to her home (which was the opposite direction). He promised to take care of her in the midst of her persecution and to bless her son.

When God responds to our affliction and answers, it may not be the answer we desire, but His directions in the midst of the problem are always right. That is why, when He speaks, we must instantly obey the promptings of His Spirit and the illumination of His Word.
