MERE MEN

MERE MEN

by Bill Elliff April 25, 2024

The worst evaluation that could be given of true believers is that they are “walking like mere men.” True believers are Spirit-men. Human, yes, but humans in whom Christ dwells. We have everything we need in us, and our lives are to be lived by trusting Him to live through us … giving us His understanding, supplying us with His character, directing us with His perfect guidance

IT’S OKAY TO BE WEAK

IT’S OKAY TO BE WEAK

by Bill Elliff April 24, 2024

Are you weak, insufficient, or trembling when you face tasks or people? Not as well trained as others? Don’t have the abilities or experience of the more recognized? Don’t let it stop you. Your weakness is the doorway to His strength if you will trust Him.

A GENERATIONAL PROMISE

A GENERATIONAL PROMISE

by Bill Elliff April 23, 2024

I have three pastors that I have met with every year for an accountability retreat. It is one of the highlights of my year and other than my family, these brothers are my richest relational treasure. We talk every week, and our lives now are intricately intertwined. We will ride into the sunset together, by the grace of God.

WHY WE SHOULD STUDY GOD AND WORSHIP HIM WITH ALL OUR HEARTS

WHY WE SHOULD STUDY GOD AND WORSHIP HIM WITH ALL OUR HEARTS

by Bill Elliff April 22, 2024

David had seen, experienced, and remembered God in ways that most do not. He had intentionally gazed at God and recorded what he saw. In that light, look at his admonition to you this morning ...

CONSIDER THE LOVINGKINDNESS OF THE LORD

CONSIDER THE LOVINGKINDNESS OF THE LORD

by Bill Elliff April 18, 2024

Psalm 107 calls us to “consider the lovingkindness of the Lord” (Vs. 43). Each paragraph illustrates God’s lovingkindness to a different group of people, always people who did not deserve it. See if these describe you right now or have in the past.

SEEKING

SEEKING

by Bill Elliff April 16, 2024

But ours should not be the momentary search of an hour or a season. A quick turn when we’re in need. It must be a continual pursuit, for we have a continual need, and God deserves our continual attention. Pray without ceasing. Seek Him and keep seeking. And as you experience Him, you will find, as Lewis wrote, “everything else thrown in.”

THE REASONABLENESS AND GENEROSITY OF GOD

THE REASONABLENESS AND GENEROSITY OF GOD

by Bill Elliff April 09, 2024

“God is easy to live with,” Tozer also said. He is not only perfect in holiness (He must deal with sin as it comes) but also flawless in kindness. If He were a man you related to, you would find Him always doing the right, gracious, benevolent thing. You would be stunned by His interest in you; awed by His acts of kindness. Overwhelmed by His unceasing generosity.

MISSING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

MISSING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

by Bill Elliff April 08, 2024

Has the kingdom of God come near you? You’ve heard of Christ, seen someone in whom Christ dwelled, passed by a church on the corner, or have a Bible that a grandmother gave you years ago. Perhaps you even sit in a church every Sunday, but you have never surrendered to Christ and entered His kingdom. You never acknowledged your need and turned to Christ in faith to save you. You merely let the kingdom merely “come near.”

HAVE YOU REJECTED GOD'S PURPOSE?

HAVE YOU REJECTED GOD'S PURPOSE?

by Bill Elliff April 05, 2024

There are some tragic sentences in life that we say or are said about us. But there is none more fatal than this statement about the religious Pharisees and lawyers in Jesus’ day: “They rejected God’s purpose for themselves.”

DEVOTION TO THE DESERTED PLACE

DEVOTION TO THE DESERTED PLACE

by Bill Elliff April 03, 2024

Every reason He had for seclusion should be our reason. The man always available and even seeking the limelight is not the One we should follow. “Pay no attention,” Tozer said, “to a man who pays no attention to God.” Follow the man who often slips away to pray. This man will have something from God to say when the crowds appear.

OUR PRAYER DURING THIS SHORT LIFE!

OUR PRAYER DURING THIS SHORT LIFE!

by Bill Elliff April 01, 2024

The Psalmist recognized the brevity of life, but most of us don't. "As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years … for soon it is gone and we fly away" (Psalm 90:10). We act as if there are many days to accomplish the work set before us, when in reality, there are but a few. It is important that each day be maximized, and the path to its usefulness is prayer.
