When you’re lifted up in pride or bowed down in discouragement, look at the stars. Every bright light reminds us that He is God and there is no other. The One who made the stars and knows them by name, made you. And you are of infinite worth to our Sovereign Creator.

Pride is such a devious and deadly sin. I find it creeps upon my soul when I least expect it, and suddenly and almost unconsciously, I'm worried about what others think, anxious to be known, drawing attention to myself, thinking about and pampering my desires before others’ needs, and on and on. If we are not careful, the ever-present pride of our hearts will blind our eyesight. Pride exalts ourselves and puts ME at the center of everything. When my vision is filled with me, I cannot see God. But also, I cannot see the people around me. They become objects used for the purpose of exalting me.

In God's economy, actions motivated for human praise will be the only accolades we get. But if we live to please God alone, we will receive a great reward in heaven, and our earthly actions will be unscented by the noxious smell of pride.

In the work of God, there are always those who oppose. I have watched countless churches plateau and die because of a man or group of men who fought God's work.
But it is critical for God's leaders to know the source of such opposition. It is always pride that leads to control.
