There is something foundational that people need to know about the nation of Israel, the conflicts we have seen through the ages, and the conflict we see right now.

I have three pastors that I have met with every year for an accountability retreat. It is one of the highlights of my year and other than my family, these brothers are my richest relational treasure. We talk every week, and our lives now are intricately intertwined. We will ride into the sunset together, by the grace of God.

I have a deep friend who is in a very tough situation. It’s one of those moments when you are being attacked on every side, and it seems there are no viable solutions. There seems to be no way out.

God can do anything, of course. And there are many miraculous things He wants to do on this earth so the world can know and believe Him. Your salvation was the greatest of these, but just the beginning.

We think we need this and that when all we really need is God's presence. He is the answer to every question, the solution to every problem. He is the substance that can fill every void and the satisfaction that fulfills every longing.

There is no one who desires to be used by God who is not faced with enemies. We all deal with external enemies (opposers to the direction God has called us to), internal enemies (the weakness of our flesh and the swirling winds of our emotions and fears), and, most importantly, spiritual enemies (“We wrestle not against flesh and blood”). These battles are there for all of us, particularly for Christian leaders.

We are called in Scripture to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” in Psalm 122. Wise are the people and nations who do so and blessed are those who cooperate with God’s intent and promises. Not only should we support Israel right now in this current conflict on the basis of morality, justice, and freedom, but we should support them on spiritual and Biblical grounds.

God is a promise-keeping God. It is the way He operates. Over 7,000 times in the Scriptures, God gives man promises. Some are unconditional (“I will do this”), and some are conditional (“I will do this IF you do this”). But all are ironclad promises from the One-Who-Does-Not-Lie.

Americans are world-class eaters. Some estimates are that the annual expenditure in the United States for all food is $1.1 trillion. We love to eat and go to extraordinary means to consume what we want. Eating provides the nutrition to live, but it’s also a means of satisfaction on a daily basis.
What we don’t realize is that there is a food group we’re missing that is the source of not only the greatest nutritional value but the highest joy. It’s estimated that less than 10% of Americans eat this food daily, even though it’s readily available.

The book of Numbers in the Scripture begins with a seemingly laborious account of a census taken of all the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. But this very accounting has a purpose. As always, it teaches us something about God.

God has made promises to His followers (over 7,000 in His word). We may doubt it during dark times, but those times may not be hindrances to the fulfillment, but the pathways. Don't doubt in the darkness what God has told you in the light. He cannot lie and is always faithful to His promises to us!

God will meet us where we are. When we doubt and struggle in faith, God is gracious to come and remind us (again) of His promises. And He is faithful. Promises He made to our ancestors that involve us will be fulfilled! God has rich, personal promises He longs to make and accomplish in our life as we look to Him. He is not limited by time or history. What He has said, He will accomplish.
