If God is speaking and is speaking through His Son, how could we turn a deaf ear? Disregard the Speaking Voice? Pay no attention to His blessed communication. Ignore a single word? How could we not read His word (His primary means of communication to us)? Listen to His Spirit (who is has placed inside of all believers so that we might “freely know the things given to us by God”)? Go days and months without prayer?

This spiritual uniting and Presence connects us in a way that could not happen organizationally. The church—throughout the ages and across nations—is not an organization made by human hands, but an organism joined by a common Life. The blessed Holy Spirit is the agent and the Presence, helping us experience a unity with other believers far beyond what we even know with our own biological families.

Pause and think of this deeply right now. If you are a true believer, the Holy Spirit lives in you! Christ chose to enter the physical womb of a virgin to be born. In like measure, the Holy Spirit has chosen to reside in you until your life is over. Glorify Him with your body. Be humbled, be grateful, and be cooperative with your Divine Guest.

Everything in God’s created order moves by some type of power. We see by the power of the sun and the power of electricity. We breathe by the power of our lungs and the powerful outside pressure of the air. We move by the power of muscles and nerves placed by God in the human body. We think through the power of the mind.

Jesus always knew, in the moment, what He was to do and where He was to go. This was because of His unbroken communion with the Spirit of God. "The Spirit impelled Him to go into the wilderness." He knew and He followed without the slightest hesitation.

It is a natural belief that the biggest wins. That human power is the necessary ingredient for success. That the higher intellect, the greater resources always have the advantage. We usually assume the position of defeat when we realize that we have deficient power to face the challenge, less means than our enemies.

To "send" someone or something is not an action taken by the receiver but by the giver. As human beings separated from God and under judgment because of our sin, we desperately need two things that we cannot have on our own. We need salvation from God to make us fit for heaven, and we need empowerment from God to make us fit for earth.

Just because a church or a pastor names the name doesn’t mean they are engaged in ministry as God desires. The picture of an effective, God-glorifying church is given to us in the pages of the book of Acts.

When we are filled with God, by His Spirit's indwelling, we begin to understand the purpose for our lives on this earth. On Pentecost, tongues like fire fell along with God’s Spirit on the fledgling believers. They immediately began to speak of Christ in languages they did not know. And, by God’s design, the place was filled with people who were hearing the gospel in their native tongue.

We spend our lives trying to gain certain things and are full of joy when we get them. Our first car, our first job, our first home. Reputation and prestige and influence. The list is long. But, is it possible to have all those things and not have the most important thing? Here’s what the Apostle Paul said:
