This first and greatest commandment was given to remind us that what we love we worship. What we love, we serve. And it is fascinating to notice the "all" of this command. There is no room for divided affections.

Think of this deeply. Let it sink into your soul. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End, the Creator of all, wants to be with you! Where do you live? You may respond to that with an address, defining the physical place of your primary dwelling. You go to many places, but you live there.
Moses reminds us in this Psalm that God himself has been the dwelling place of his true children forever. It is only in him that we are at rest, at home, safe and secure.

"I don't know how much of God you have, but I know this: you have all you want," Adrian Rogers once said. One of the ways of God is to give the greatest measure of blessing and power to those who are hungry. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6).

Everything with God has purpose. We see this dimly now. One of the joys of heaven will be the revelation of the intricacies of all God did and why He did it. We will be stunned at His precision.

All of us appreciate a good accounting system, even if we are not the ones administering it. You are grateful when you go to a store, that they will only charge you what is advertised. In business, you want to know how things will be recorded and have a clear understanding of what will be done, particularly when it’s your money that is involved.
God has an accounting system and Paul, when finally enlightened, realized that it was completely opposite of what he had operated under for years.

"There is nothing so tragic as a merely formal Christian," Martyn Lloyd-Jones said. Nothing so disappointing as a person who once basked in the joy of the Lord but has now discovered that his love has grown cold.
