I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge. (1 Corinthians 1:4-5)
Our life consists of a search for something. Most men never realize what that something is. They spend a lifetime relentlessly pursuing that which is an illusion to them.
But happy is the man who finds Christ (or rather, who is found by Christ) for this man has found everything. And to his amazement he will increasingly realize that this everything resides in Someone. Our all is in Him.
BY GOD’S GRACE
This happens through the ""grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus."" We could never find Him on our own. In fact, we are so depraved we would never even think or desire to search for Him.
It is God's grace that creates a hunger in our hearts and then fulfills that hunger. This grace to discover Him is “given to us.” Even the grace is a gift.
HAVING EVERYTHING
And when we have Him we have everything. Life, love, joy, peace, direction, understanding, power...the list is as deep as God and as long as eternity. Everything flows from the presence of the Lord and to have the Essential Presence is to gain all that matters and lasts.
Paul reminds the Corinthians later that they are the possessors of all of this. That “all things belong” to them.
So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God (1 Corinthians 3:21-23).
THROUGH FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM
And how is this everything experienced? Through fellowship with Jesus, hour-by-hour, day by day.
""God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord"" (1 Corinthians 1:9).
Fellowship with Him is merely the sharing of common life. This is our calling—to walk with Him and partake of this endless supply. And to let this everything flow through us to others.
In every crisis, every decision, every opportunity we turn to Him and find these inexhaustible riches. Everything that we need today and a billion years from now is found there.
If you know Christ, walk joyfully today. You are the richest person on earth.
