HERE IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU SHOULD DO TODAY

It’s our greatest dilemma. We don’t know what to do. All of us face moments and seasons when we are perplexed about the next steps. When we are confused or wandering.

This is why the Bible is so important. It is God’s Word directly to us. The Holy Spirit is given to the willing follower so that he/she might “freely know the things given to us by God.” It is a “lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.”

A SIMPLE LIST

… is given in Romans, Chapter 12 of God’s marching orders. It is profound. It is beautiful. It leads to the best life for us and others. And, it is abundantly clear. Take a moment and meditate on each of these instructions. This is not just a nice list. It is a set of instructions for living. I can promise you that, whatever your question about your next step, there is direction for you here in Romans 12:9-21.

  • Let love be without hypocrisy
  • Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.
  • Be devoted to one another in brotherly love
  • Give preference to one another in honor.
  • Don’t lag behind in diligence but be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord
  • Rejoicing in hope
  • Persevering in tribulation.
  • Devoted to prayer.
  • Contributing to the needs of the saints
  • Practicing hospitality.
  • Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
  • Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
  • Be of the same mind toward one another.
  • Do not be haughty in mind but associate with the lowly.
  • Do not be wise in your own estimation.
  • Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.
  • Respect what is right in the sight of all men.
  • If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.
  • Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
  • If your enemy is hungry, feed Him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
  • Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Now you know what to do. Cry out for God’s empowering grace to obey and go meet the day!

Father, thank You that Your will for us is clear. There is no ambiguity with You. And thank You that Your will is “good, and acceptable, and perfect” (lacking in nothing). I trust in You to fill me with Your Spirit and empower me to do what You are instructing me to do … and I will trust You with the results!

MERE MEN

The worst evaluation that could be given of true believers is that they are “walking like mere men.” True believers are Spirit-men. Human, yes, but humans in whom Christ dwells. We have everything we need in us, and our lives are to be lived by trusting Him to live through us … giving us His understanding, supplying us with His character, directing us with His perfect guidance

I have three pastors that I have met with every year for an accountability retreat. It is one of the highlights of my year and other than my family, these brothers are my richest relational treasure. We talk every week, and our lives now are intricately intertwined. We will ride into the sunset together, by the grace of God.
