There is never a moment when a child of God need lose hope, for with Him, anything is possible. All of history reminds us of this truth.
The story of Joseph in Genesis reads like an unbelievable fictional tale … but it is all historical and factual. This innocent young man was thrown in a pit and then sold into slavery by his brothers and taken to Egypt. There, he was causing his master to prosper, but he was falsely accused by a devious woman and placed into prison. I’m sure Joseph—if he were not a God-follower—would surmise that he just could not win.
A DREAM AND A PROMOTION
In a twist that only God could orchestrate, Joseph is brought before the most powerful man in the world and asked to interpret a dream. When Pharoah tried to give Joseph credit, he exhibited two characteristics of a great leader: humility and faith.
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, but no one can interpret it; and I have heard it said about you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” Joseph then answered Pharaoh, saying, “aIt is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.” (Genesis 41:15–16)
God can use men whom He knows will not take credit. God gave Joseph the interpretation and the end result was that Pharoah exalted Joseph as second in command over the whole nation. When the prophesied famine arose (and Joseph has single-handedly prepared the nation for it) we read these astounding words:
When the famine was spread over all the face of the earth, then Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians; and the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. The people of all the earth came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe in all the earth. (Genesis 41:56-57)
The famine was over the whole earth and Joseph, as he wisely followed God’s leadership, had prepared and now was in a position to literally save the world!
Regardless of what you think your situation is in life, if you will follow God without reservation, trust Him explicitly with bold faith, and give Him all the glory, He will put you EXACTLY where you need to be to help people and glorify Him. And He will do it with amazing timing and precision.
There is never, ever a need to push and pull and promote yourself. God will see to that as He desires. Just trust Him—even in a pit or in a prison—and see what God will do with a man or woman wholly yielded to Him.

We spend our lives trying to gain certain things and are full of joy when we get them. Our first car, our first job, our first home. Reputation, and prestige, and influence. The list is long. But is it possible to have all those things and not have the most important thing?
