We have our golden calves. Power, pleasure, materialism are three big ones. We bow before them, doing anything to get them. They become idols that we worship. Stone gods that we bow before. And God has the same reaction.
When will we learn? There is ONE GOD! There is only one who can deliver us. Only one from whom every good and perfect gift originates. One Creator of all that is, including the very cells of our bodies. One God we should look to and one God we should worship and serve.

Does God have a task for you to do? Most assuredly He does. Then He will put the calling, empowering, and skill necessary to accomplish His work in and through you. This sufficiency is true for the smallest, daily tasks and the greatest endeavors. You need not fear. Look to Him and all the sufficiency you need will be provided. You will be able to say with Paul, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
In this way, God’s miraculous work gets done and all the glory goes entirely to the One who equipped you for the task.

The great purpose in the daily provision of God for us is to teach us that “man does not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Deuteronomy 8:3) In other words, trusting Him and seeing Him supply for our needs daily builds our faith. And faith is God’s operating system with man.

God knows what He’s doing. Our great problem is that we often don’t believe this. When He gives a command or direction through His Word or by His Spirit, we often object because it doesn’t “make sense” to us.

Moses recorded for us, in Exodus, Chapter 12, one of the most amazing moments in human history. Pharaoh had refused to let Israel go after 430 years in bondage. But God came with a series of judgments to show Pharaoh and the whole nation and the Israelites that there was only one true God. A God who should be bowed down to and served.
A final judgment came in one night as God took every firstborn son from the Egyptians households in death. But among the 1 million+ Israelites, not a single child died.

We are relentless in our humanistic pride. Left to our own way, we think we can handle life. We ignore God most of the time, vainly thinking we’re capable. We do not pray, nor look to Him. We do not read His Word and listen to His instructions for His life. And, we do not surrender to Him and follow Him humbly in faith. And the results are disastrous.

Is there anything you are unwilling to relinquish to God? To release? A job? A relationship? Possessions? Comfort? Popularity? A favorite habit or sin? Remember, God is not out to take from you, but to bring to its proper purpose all that you have. It would be good to pause right now and look down at your hands. Ask God to show you what you are gripping more tightly than you should.

This is God. He hears, He listens, He is aware, He responds to those who call upon Him. The reason this account is here is to remind you of who God is—to build your faith to believe that the God who heard and answered the Israelite’s cries will hear and answer yours. He's done it for millions, and He will hear your cry right now.

If Joseph had resisted God’s sovereign work in his life, he would have died a bitter man. He would have taken revenge against his brothers at his earliest opportunity. He would have been like any other self-absorbed human. And, his life would not have saved millions and taught all of us what a man who follows God fully looks like.
But, he let God be God, orchestrating the events of his life and resting in a faith in God's rightness and inherent goodness. And so should we.

For each of us there are particular ways the hand of God is upon us. Ways He desires to bless us and use us. But in it all, we are blessed to be a blessing to others around us, as God prompts and gives direction. And, we can receive the blessing of God upon our lives and live accordingly. It is an incredible treasure for others to be able to say of you, “The blessing of God is upon them.”

The world exalts degrees and the opinions of those of high intellect. But we forget that these men and women are created by a Greater Mind. If we want to know true wisdom and insight into the future, we must defer to the Source of all wisdom and knowledge, and humbly give Him glory when He allows us to see what He sees.
