""And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, ""Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come."" (Revelation 4:8)
It makes perfect sense that what is going on in heaven should be our constant aspiration. Heaven is where things are as they should be. This is why Christ told us that we should constantly pray, ""Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it (is being done) in heaven."" We should be looking into the heavens for our direction in prayer and our pattern for living.
So notice, at the beginning of this day, six telling words of heaven:
""... they do not cease to say.""
Following those six words is one of the most profound statements recorded in human history. Angels proclaim God's holiness, God's power, and His eternal existence. They remind us that He is different than anything and anyone; that He is the ALL mighty, (there is none greater), and that He has always been this way and always will be.
OUR NEARSIGHTEDNESS
We forget this, or fail to see it altogether.
We forget His holiness, and treat Him as any other created being. This leads to a lack of worship.
We forget His omnipotence. Which leads to a lack of dependency. We think we are pretty mighty. This is why we resist God's control in our lives and find ourselves going through whole days living on our own without relying on God. Our prayerlessness is an indication of this. If we can go through a whole day with little or no prayer, it is a clear indication we think we can live our lives without God.
And we forget His eternal nature. No one is like our God. The Alpha and Omega. We should be looking to Him constantly for life and wisdom, understanding that His eternal nature gives Him something we do not have.
We forget and live on with little or no daily understanding of these truths. How else could you possibly explain our inattention to God on a daily basis?
THE ACTIVITY OF HEAVEN
In heaven, there are special creatures who remind us of this day and night. They do not cease to remember this and proclaim this.
And, if we are to live rightly, we must move to that unceasing recognition and unceasing worship. This should be the framework and the foundation for every thought, every relationship, every decision of the common day.
The more we live this way, the more heaven moves to earth, and the world around us sees the reality of our holy, almighty, eternal God.
