There is something extraordinary about you. Whether you realize it or not, you were created in God’s image. As the apex of creation, God designed you to be the highest expression of Him.
Sin has distorted this image in us all. We have all “sinned and fallen short of God’s glory” (Romans 6:23). But God sent His Son to redeem us, to restore us back to the Designer’s original intent. And for those who believe in Him, He will completely accomplish this. This completion begins on earth but is finalized in eternity with Him.
THE ENEMY’S INTENT
Satan hates God and everything about him. That is why he is working feverishly to “steal, kill, and destroy” men—to destroy the image of God across the world. This is why murder is such a serious sin with God. And, here in Genesis 9, God reveals that it is so serious that capital punishment is to be instituted to be a deterrent to wanton murder.
After Noah’s redemption, God reminds us that we are not to shed man’s blood—to murder. And the reason is simple: everyone has been made in His image.
Our goal is to be just the opposite. We are to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth with others made in His image.
THE MOST HEINOUS SIN
… in our world today is the taking of innocent life (by the millions). God will not tolerate this blatant destruction of His image in millions of unborn babies. Perhaps the whole reason we are experiencing the judgment of God in our nation is because of this sin. God judged pagan nations in the past who sacrificed children to pagan gods. Why should He not do the same today?
Father, help us. Forgive us for destroying Your image in millions of unborn lives. Somehow, dear God, rescue us from this wanton taking of life, this constant destruction of Your image in the lives of precious children.

I have known many people who have had great joy and power in the midst of great suffering. It is humbling that the slightest inconveniences deter many of us from following God. We have not gotten to the bottom—settled the issue. Most often, we live for our comfort, reputation, or gain. When any of those goals are touched, we are troubled and discontent.

The repentant who finds God gains everything. “He who has God and everything else,” said C.S. Lewis, “has no more than he who has God alone.”
