DO YOU WANT THE BEST BREAD?

DO YOU WANT THE BEST BREAD?

I love bread. Almost any kind. When I was a child, I would often go to the corner bakery with my father. I pressed my nose against the glass counter and watched in utter fascination as they brought our bread straight from the oven and cut it on a special machine. I could hardly wait to get home and find the butter. I love bread (did I already say that?)

I have discovered, though, a few downsides of bread through the years. Bread can go bad. Mold sets in, and it's useless. And too much bread can add extra pounds that none of us need.

BETTER BREAD

Later in life, I discovered the best bread, which Jesus talks about in John 6. By God's grace, the Spirit of God taught me of Christ and led me to believe in Him. I partook of Him and discovered that He is the real Wonder Bread. This Bread has miraculous properties.

He's the Bread that Came from Heaven

"For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world." (John 6:33)

Jesus had just fed the 5,000 with five loaves and two fish. The people wanted more of this bread. But Jesus had only used this physical feeding as a sign; an illustration. There was another Bread that they needed that was supplied right from God Himself. We should be ever grateful to God for this perfect Gift!

He's the Bread that Brings us to Him and Him to us

"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him." (John 6:56)

To have this Bread is to have Him. And when you receive Christ through faith, He will forever remain in you and you in Him. This is the secret that makes all the properties of Christ yours forever. You have Him, and He has you!

He's the Bread that Perfectly Satisfies

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst." (John 6:35)

If you eat physical bread, you're hungry in just a few hours. But partakeingof Christ and having  Him as your resident and Savior gives you a satisfaction that solves your hunger problem. Everything you need is found in Him, and now you have Him residing in you in the person of His Spirit. You will never hunger again!

He's the Bread that Gives Eternal Life

"This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. (John 6:50-51)

To partake of Christ means that the One who conquered death as He rose from the dead now lives in you! You will never die, for you are joined to Him.

Are you hungry? Are you headed to a certain and eternal death? Then partake of Christ. You will not be disappointed.

Father, thank You for sending us the Bread, your son! Thank you for providing a way for us to have Him in us, joined forever. Thank You for the total satisfaction Christ brings to our lives and for life eternal! Now, Lord, don't let me be miserly. Help me share this Bread with everyone I encounter.

Our greatest misconception is that God is uninterested in us. From the beginning our Ancient Enemy has deceived us into thinking that God is holding out and on us and that He has no interest in our fellowship.

But the testimony of Scripture (and of men and women who have known Him) shatters this lie like a hammer shattering a rock.
