Where does gladness come from? Not a mere happiness, but to be glad in your soul? The Psalmist knew.
Make glad the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. (Psalm 86:4-5)
If we lift up our soul to God, He (and He alone) will make our soul glad. This happens through prayer and dependency and focus on HIM, not on ourselves. Turning to Him. Looking to Him today. If we do, He will restore gladness to our soul.
But, why does He do this? We are His creation and His children. And, He is ...
It is His undeniable nature that must display this towards those who will humbly, prayerfully look to Him. This is available to “all who call” upon Him. What could make us more glad and grateful than knowing the manifestations of His goodness, forgiveness, and lovingkindness toward us today?
Do you want to be GLAD today? Then look to Jesus! He will make you glad in your soul.

Imagine a child created by God and for whom He had sent His only begotten Son to redeem and His Spirit to indwell. And then imagine that child ignoring Him, never communing, never praying, never listening, never obeying. And then realize how an attentive, unceasing life of prayer would delight the heart of the Father who made you.

Spending hours in solitude with God alone is foreign to us. We are not familiar with God. He is, for most, a distant entity, not an every day Father.

What is more important to you than anything else? Check your values, for they will drive you this year. And what value is it if a man gains the whole world but loses his soul?
