When God begins working in our hearts, we often think it is just on our end. But God is not limited by time, geography, or power. He is working all the time in multiple places.
Here was Ananias in Damascus. He received a word from God to go up and meet with Saul. He knew this persecutor’s reputation and argued with God about it. But little did he know what God was doing in Saul’s heart simultaneously.
Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias, and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” And the Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying, and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight.”
But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem; and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.” But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name’s sake.” (Acts 9:10-16
Paul was to become the first missionary to the Gentiles and write over 1/3 of the New Testament.
When you are prompted to speak a word or bear witness to someone, realize that God is prompting you because He has been preparing a heart to receive your witness. You are His instrument on the other end of the equation. So boldly go without hesitation and with great anticipation that you are being used in His great plan!
