HAVING IT ALL

There is a relentless passion in man to have more. To have it all. To get everything one can in this life for themselves and those around them.

But what most do not realize is that “all” is possible! In fact, it’s God’s great desire to give unsearchable riches to us, and He has provided a way.

IN CHRIST

Paul writes one very long sentence (14 verses) in Ephesians 1 describing what has been given to every person who is “in Christ.” That phrase is used eight times in these verses. It means those who have come by faith to Christ and been saved by His grace. They have been born again into a new, eternal relationship with Christ.

But one word (among many) staggers us in the opening line.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. (Eph 1:3).

EVERY

He has not given us some spiritual blessings, or a few, but “every.” Everything you could ever possibly want or need. Everything in the spiritual realm is available to you, and these are the gifts that matter and last. These gifts are in the heavens, so there is no possibility of theft or decay. But they are all accessible to us right now. He lists some of these abundant blessings in the following verses.

• We are made holy and blameless before God.
• We are adopted as His sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself.
• He has kindly fulfilled His will in us.
• We have been redeemed by His blood and forgiven.
• He has lavished His grace on us.
• He has made known to us the mystery of His will and plan.
• We have an inheritance eternally!
• We have received the Holy Spirit in us, who is the down payment of our future inheritance!

Everything indeed.

In fact, the rest of Scriptures records over 7,000 promises our great God has made to His children. Things that are easily accessed by dependence upon Him (faith). How could we be downhearted today? If we are in Christ, we have everything!
