There are a lot of things we can be sad about today. The state of our nation; the presence of sin; the problems we face; the brokenness of the family; the rise of terrorism ... and on and on.
But there is great reason for rejoicing also. And it's found in this simple statement by the Psalmist:
""The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice!"" (Psalm 97:1)
To God, the earth is a very, very small place. He sees it all in a glance. And, He reigns over it all. In His sovereignty, He has allowed the Enemy a short season of terror. God has purposes in allowing this, but make no mistake: God reigns.
HIS MOVEMENT IN REVIVAL
In the matter of revival and spiritual awakening: God gazes across the earth, divinely orchestrating His movements at just the right time. He knows that what happens in Wales in 1904 will eventually lead to a mighty move of spiritual awakening where tens of thousands are saved in Nagaland. It is all connected to Him. He reigns.
When it is silent in one area and His people are praying and wondering about His seeming inactivity, prayers are being answered in another region that will ultimately answer prayers of those patiently crying out. It is all interconnected and His movements are under His control.
To God, the world is not a massive place, but a small city over which He rules. He knows what He’s about.
ALL THE WAY TO THE END
He has started an historical march to the consummation in this place we call earth. It leads to Armageddon’s final battle and a ""new heaven and new earth. It involves the final binding of Satan and all who will not believe in His Son in the pit of hell and the rule Kingdom of God in a new, perfected earth, (paradise restored), with all those who believe.
Every problem will be solved, every enemy defeated. Every knee will bow and tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord in every region and place. And His kingdom will have no end!
He reigns today. REJOICE!
