HOW TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING

HOW TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING

Life is confusing. A thousand voices swirl around us. Multiple ideas and opinions vie for our attention. We’re constantly confronted by choices. We must decide what is right or wrong, helpful or destructive. And behind most voices is the devious mind of the Father of all Lies. He’s determined to deceive us so he can steal, kill, and destroy us. His singular goal is to keep us from God and from bringing God’s kingdom and will to this world.

How do we discern the right voice? How do we understand things clearly in the face of such a barrage of ideas? How can we possibly make the right choices?

CLARITY

… comes from one source. It is a never-change voice, but it is only available to those who seek God. Read and rejoice in God’s glorious promise:

Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand all things. (Proverbs 28:5)

The Lord sits upon His throne in heaven. He rules above all. He is the Creator and knows everything about His world. How it operates. What it is supposed to do.

He knows us inside and out and everyone around us. He knows what is right and wrong, just and unjust, beneficial and destructive. He knows the end of every potential option we face. The promise of Proverbs is that if we seek Him and listen to Him with a heart willing to follow, we will “understand all things.” He doesn’t say we’ll understand “some” things or a “few things,” but “all things.”

The seeker of God who walks in humility, knowing that they know nothing apart from this Source and gladly comes to the Father, is the heir to a phenomenal promise. If you make Him your singular Counselor, you will find the path of life. You will hear the clarion voice. You will know the truth (which is Christ Himself), and the truth will set you free.

WANDERING AND WONDERING

How would you like to live? In confusion? Always wondering what’s right but never really sure? Taking a step that you don’t know is the right path? Living in a fog?

Or would you love to know the truth and to have the deep, wise understanding that leads to a good and godly life? A life that gives clarity to those around you? A life that others can follow and find the One their soul longs for?

Then focus your whole life every day on abiding in Christ—remaining in a fixed, stable position with Him. Read and memorize His Word constantly. Talk to Him all day long in prayer with no intermission, and your life will find clarity and, with that clarity, peace; and with that peace, purpose, and witness to a world that has completely lost its way.

Father, thank You that You are unchanging and perfect. You offer me the gift of wisdom, discernment, and light amid a crooked and perverse generation. Thank You that I can know everything I need to know about everything as I listen to You and You alone. You will guide me into all truth as I follow You. And thank You that this pursuit yields more than mere understanding. It is a walk with You, the One my soul longs for and is hopeless without. As C.S. Lewis says, “Look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him, everything else thrown in.”

MERE MEN

The worst evaluation that could be given of true believers is that they are “walking like mere men.” True believers are Spirit-men. Human, yes, but humans in whom Christ dwells. We have everything we need in us, and our lives are to be lived by trusting Him to live through us … giving us His understanding, supplying us with His character, directing us with His perfect guidance

I have three pastors that I have met with every year for an accountability retreat. It is one of the highlights of my year and other than my family, these brothers are my richest relational treasure. We talk every week, and our lives now are intricately intertwined. We will ride into the sunset together, by the grace of God.
