You may have crawled out of bed this morning after a hard day yesterday and wondered what this day holds. You may not be thinking much about yourself or God or His Son. You may be facing a difficult day ahead with multiple problems or overwhelmed by the routineness of life.
That's why the Bible was given and why we must read it every day.

Every follower of Christ has some belief that he should read the Bible. But for many, it is an optional exercise. In reality it is indispensable. Paul convinces us of this in two brief verses to his young son in the faith, Timothy.

If you are a parent you are in the constant process of training, whether you realize it or not. You are training your child one way or another. In the best homes the training is Biblical and intentional. This training involves instruction, reproof, correction, and discipline that is given with loving consistency. In the same ways, our heavenly Father is always training us.

Every problem in our lives and in our world is a result of man's rebellion against the One who made Him. Since Adam’s sin in the Garden, every man has been sinful and separated from God at their birth. We are sinners and we have sinned continually. And the penalty for sin is always separation from God. (see Romans 6:23). This separation makes us incapable of living as we were designed to live.

All of us appreciate a good accounting system, even if we are not the ones administering it. You are grateful when you go to a store, that they will only charge you what is advertised. In business, you want to know how things will be recorded and have a clear understanding of what will be done, particularly when it’s your money that is involved.
God has an accounting system and Paul, when finally enlightened, realized that it was completely opposite of what he had operated under for years.

Do you realize what God has done for you in Christ? Notice the three uses of "bless" in the verse above. Paul blesses God because he has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.

There are thousands of breathtaking statements in the Bible. These are definitive statements which, if dealt with properly, should be the end of the discussion. These statements define what really IS, whether we agree or not. And, they demand a response. We can ignore them if we choose, but there are sad and destructive consequences if we try to live counter to what is true. It simply won't work right.

How would you summarize your life in a sentence? How would God summarize it? One day it will happen to each of us. For the apostle Paul, his summary is found in the last verse of the book of Acts.

Your conscience is your "self-knower." It is that intangible part of you that helps you know where you are spiritually, both before God and others.
If we violate what is right, our conscience tells us. As a believer, this is the Holy Spirit’s work in us called “conviction.” This is a wonderful provision by God, unless we have so violated over the years that our conscience is "seared" i.e., it has become hardened and scarred and unable to function properly.

What is the truly Christian life? What is the experience of the Christ follower? And what is their purpose?
As Paul is giving the account of his conversion before an angry crowd in Jerusalem, he relates what Ananias told him at his conversion. It describes what Paul was to experience. Notice, that all of these things are not merely intellectual, but practical and experiential.

One day in heaven we will marvel at the activity of God. He is sovereign and perfect and never evil. He sees all, but for the man who trusts and follows Him explicitly, he will be led in "all the right paths for God's name's sake." The will of God will be done, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. And sometimes, he can even use the evil of this world to get us there.
